SELECTION OF PRACTICE
GROUPS
Group selection is
ultimately up to the coach’s discretion
Practices/workouts are held Monday through
Friday from 6:30PM to 9PM. Depending on the group selected for your
swimmer, they will swim a 1.5 hour practice or a 2 hour
practice.
There are
specific requirements and guidelines for each and every group that
will help progress each swimmer to the best of their ability.
Swimmers who follow the requirements and guidelines will reap the
highest rewards. The days that a swimmer may attend are open to the
decision of the parents and swimmers, however, there is a minimum
of 60% practice attendance per month for all swim groups.
We do not
discourage the participation of our swimmers in other
extracurricular activities outside of Northglenn Fusion. We do want
to emphasize that swimming is a dedication sport and those that
want to achieve results will need to be thoroughly dedicated in
order for that to happen. If attendance becomes a problem, the
swimmer will be expected to up their attendance to 70% for the next
month. If a continual problem occurs, the swimmer will be moved
down a swim group and a conference will be held with the swimmer
and their parents to see how best to proceed.
Each of our
swim groups are divided by age, ability, commitment, and
understanding of competitive swimming. Within each of the swim
groups, swimmers will be grouped with other swimmers of their same
abilities as to further challenge each and every swimmer as well as
help to improve their overall skills.
A swimmer is
given four months in one group to hone in on their skills as well
as try to improve. During these four months, the coaches will also
be evaluating each and every swimmer for their physical strength,
technical work, as well as mental competency. After the four-month
time, the swimmer may be given the chance to move up into a higher
swim group if they show that they are physically and mentally
prepared. Please note, all group selections are ultimately at the
discretion of the coaches. Groups adjustments will be at the
beginning of February, June and October.
We encourage
parents to always be there to support and be a positive influence
on their swimmer. If, however, the presence of a parent becomes a
distraction for the swimmer, the parent will be notified. Please
also remember that during practice hours, the coaches are there for
the swimmers. If you have any questions, comments or concerns,
please contact the coaches by email or phone or wait until before
or after practice times.
